Be sure that the sheets that you purchase are fitted so they can’t come loose and become a suffocation hazard; also be sure to check that the baby bedding is flame-resistant. You should probably buy a sheet protector so that you won’t have to do as much laundry or pull the fitted sheet from the cot as frequently.

A mattress cover to protect his crib from any mishaps is very important. Choose a fabric that’s easy to maintain and keep at least two crib sheets handy in case a quick bed change is needed. Your little boy will also need fitted crib sheets, and again, you’ll want multiples so that you always have a clean one handy.
Crib bumper pads are an item of some controversy recently: they keep baby’s body parts from getting stuck between the rails, but they can also be a suffocation hazard. Baby boy bedding has a wide selection of adorable masculine prints and colors that may be included into your registry and some bedding sets even include a newly available mesh crib guard which addresses baby suffocation issues.

Baby bumpers have been linked to SIDS, therefore you should discard any bumpers that may come with your crib bedding, as they are not safe. Once your child begins to climb, crib bumpers become a safety hazard. When looking for baby boy bedding or baby girl bedding, you may be tempted by those cute looking bumpers, but think again. Bumpers are not a good idea even for baby boy bedding.
All stuffed animals and pillows must be out of the crib when you put your child down for the night because they are a suffocation hazard. Toys can be allowed in the crib with adult supervision, but they should be removed when the child begins to fall asleep.

Crib bumpers have been linked to SIDS and should be avoided when choosing baby bedding for your infant. When your baby grows and learns to climb on things, crib bumpers will give him the extra boost he requires to get out of his crib. Bumpers are a bad idea, no matter how cute they are, when it comes to baby girl and baby boy bedding.
All stuffed animals and pillows must be out of the crib when you put your child down for the night because they are a suffocation hazard. It is alright for a child to have toys in the crib as long as they are not falling asleep.

To avoid a suffocation hazard, the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines on minimum bedding should be closely adhered to, until babies reach at least twelve months of age. If your child is under a year old, you will probably have to make some modifications to the crib for safety purposes. You must bring the mattress to a lower height, and take out anything that can be used to climb up, by the time your baby can pull up and even before he can sit up. Crib bumpers, in particular, make for an easy foothold and should be taken off to prevent babies from climbing over crib rails.
Once your child ages above one year old, you can feel safe to place bedding items in its crib as the risk of SIDS decreases. Identical bed skirt and comforters have the potential to go with the nursery decor. Small cuddly blankets are suitable for the child’s warmth and comfortableness. While many toddlers appreciate a plush toy in the bed to help ease the nighttime routine, pillows are better for two-year olds.

Crib bedding can certainly improve the looks of a child’s nursery, however, bear in mind that matching comforters and pillows are of no value, in fact they are risky in a baby’s bed. Don’t go overboard when it comes to baby bedding; speak to your child’s doctor if you have even the slightest doubt about a product.
All stuffed animals and pillows must be out of the crib when you put your child down for the night because they are a suffocation hazard. You can let your child play with toys in his or her crib as long as you’re watching, but the toys should be removed when it’s time for your baby to go to sleep.
When your son or daughter graduates to a toddler bed, you have more options in decoration since you can now use comforters and pillows (though your child may be the one who chooses the decor!)

Crib bumpers have been connected to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, so don’t use the bumpers that are with your crib set! Crib bumpers can be used as step-stools to assist little ones in climbing out of their crib, as soon as they can climb it is time for the bumpers to be removed. Bumpers aren’t sufficient, though they look good with baby girl or baby boy bedding.
Once you are ready for your child to spend the night in a crib, make sure all stuffed animals and pillows are removed, because these are also a suffocation hazard, no matter how cute they might be. As long as you are watching, your child can play with toys in the crib, but take them out as soon as he becomes sleepy, and make sure they’re out of reach.
